Dennis Jurss is the
founder of Jurss Transport and started the
company in 1969 with one primemover carting milk
and cream cans in to the Wide-Bay Co-op and
Nestles factory in Gympie.
In 1973 a contract was
obtained from Wide Bay Co-op. When this Co-op
was taken over by other interests Dennis took on
a contract with Pauls Suncoast Dairies.
Dennis gradually expanded his operation
to the current size and took on two
partners. Brian Robertson in Central
Queensland in 1991 and Tim Jensen in
South East Queensland in 2003.
This gives Jurss Transport the ability to
continue to grow and improve.
Our entire fleet is covered by
NHVAS, Mass management, Maintenance management,
Trucksafe and Transitional Fatigue Management.
We are also DPI accredited to transport grape
must and juice from Phylloxera areas into
Phylloxera free zones.
We train all
of our drivers in Transitional Fatigue
Management, and defensive driving with a
Roadcraft defensive driving course. We have an
apprenticeship training system in place to allow
us to bring every drivers skills to the highest
professional standard. Milk collection drivers
also need to hold a current Milk and Cream
graders certificate for which Pauls Parmalat and
ourselves provide the training.
Jurss Transport also has a policy
of endeavouring to bring young Drivers into the
company. We are proud to have been the
first company to successfully offer an in house
apprenticeship with the help of NTI and
Mt.Cotton driver training.
